Gearhart’s tennis courts on Pacific Way and North Marion reopened after Clatsop County entered phase two of the state’s reopening plan.

The courts will be open during daylight hours, although there may be times the courts will not open depending on staffing, according to city staff. Players must maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet and adhere to state health guidelines.

For pickleball aficionados, who celebrated the opening of a multiuse court with rolling nets last fall, the reopening after a nearly three-month closure due to the pandemic is a welcome one.

“The sunshine, fresh air and camaraderie is awesome,” Wally Hamer said Thursday. “The city has been very supportive of us and we really appreciate it.”

The gate to the parking area will only be partially opened; park along Pacific Way or Marion.

Water fountains, bathrooms and the city parking area will reopen during the next phase.
