The Knappa and Seaside cross-country teams took part in the Fred Berkey XC Invitational, held Oct. 4 at Camp Magruder in Tillamook.
The Logger boys took third in the team scoring, behind 6A Tigard and 4A Tillamook, and ahead of teams including Molalla, Centennial, Gladstone and Marshfield. Seaside was ninth.
Freshman Cole Jervis was Seaside’s top finisher (31st, 20:46). He was followed by Everett Rollins (35th, 20:56), Nalu Isley (69th, 23:09), Cameron Lippert (83rd, 24:28), Fernando Dzul-Fisher (92nd, 25:39) and Skyler Archibald (104th, 30:31).
Tillamook won the girls’ team title, while Seaside placed seventh.
Elise Seppa led the Lady Gulls (19th, 22:08), with other runners including Brooke Blankenhorn (29th, 23:23), Tara Lair (33rd, 23:39), Margaret Goin (46th, 24:51), Kiermin Dalby (58th, 27:35) and Morgan Houston (62nd, 42:10).
In the middle school race, the Broadway boys were fourth out of nine teams, with James Roehr taking third out of 102 runners in 11:20 over the 3,000-meter course.
On the girls’ side, Broadway was fifth out of six schools, with seventh grader Layla Varozza leading the way (fifth, 13:01).
