TILLAMOOK â Tillamookâs home court advantage was strong enough for a 57-52 win over Seaside, in a Cowapa League boys basketball showdown Tuesday night.
The Gulls â who topped Tillamook 87-84 in an overtime game just over two weeks ago â were unable to maintain a nine-point lead to start the fourth quarter.
The Cheesemakers rallied behind clutch 3-pointers from Gabe Lachenmeier and Ian Collett, and Tillamook made free throws down the stretch to secure the upset.
Seaside hosts Banks in a Cowapa League finale Thursday, with the Braves having clinched first place with a win over Astoria Tuesday.
Chase Januik scored 21 points to lead the Gulls, but the junior guard was plagued by foul trouble, eventually fouling out late in the fourth quarter.
Payton Westerholm and Duncan Thompson combined for 25 points, while Collett led Tillamook with 25.
Tied 52-52 late in the game, Collett hit a jump shot to give the Cheesemakers a 54-52 lead with 56 seconds remaining.
Tillamook made a stop defensively, and Collett drew a foul by Januik (his fifth), and made two free throws with 37 seconds left.
