Rotary volunteers

Rotary cleanup volunteers Doug Barker, Skyler Archibald, Bob Fuller, Dawn Fujiwara-Pavlik and Stew Martin.

Volunteers arrived early at the Seaside Visitors Bureau building on Saturday for the Rotary highway cleanup. The biannual event brings members of Seaside Rotary together to collect trash on U.S. Highway 101 from Dooley Bridge in the south and Neawanna Bridge at the north end.

About 25 volunteers paired off for the litter pickup, which typically collects about 20 to 25 bags of trash, rotarian Skyler Archibald said. The Oregon Department of Transportation collects the plastic yellow bags for disposal.

Typically the group enjoys breakfast a local restaurant after the event, but this year, volunteers enjoyed to-go food in the parking lot.
