Richard Newman is the featured artist for August at Trail’s End Art Gallery in Gearhart. His show, “Window-to-the-World-Photography” will include his most recent works printed on pearlized metallic paper, glass, aluminum and wood. The opening reception takes place Saturday, Aug. 1, 3-5 p.m. Along with other members’ work, the show will be open throughout the month.

Newman grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and now lives in Beaverton and Gearhart. In high school and college he was a photographer for his newspaper and year book. In his senior year of high school he was hired as an assistant photographer for the City of Cleveland were he learned the fine art of photography and darkroom applications. After college, he entered the business world in fabric and design as a store manager, consultant and sales manager. Newman’s love of photography never faded and when the digital age of photography started, he traded in his old 35 mm camera and now uses a Nikon 810 with various lenses to capture his photographs and an Apple computer to catalog and compose them.

At the Trail’s End annual juried show in 2014, he received the Best of Show Award for his photograph of the Portland Marquee on aluminum.

Trail’s End gallery is located at 656 A St., Gearhart, Wednesday through Sundays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. For more information, visit
