Plumb the depths of seafood at the “Cracking and Cooking Christmas Crab” cooking class on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m.

“Cracking and Cooking Christmas Crab” will feature instruction on how to buy, prep, cook and serve Dungeness crab at holiday gatherings. The event, limited to 15, is sponsored by the Friends of the Seaside Library .

Burns Bright is a food and travel writer based in the Northwest. She recently retired from teaching at the University of Oregon, where she led a faculty research group in the emerging discipline of food studies. She holds a PhD from the University of California at Irvine and a master food preserver certification. Her writing appears in Gastronomica, Oregon Quarterly, NPR’s The Salt and Eugene Magazine, among others.
