The Cannon Beach Cottage Tour is a weekend-long series of events, including live music, wine tasting, tea tasting, and a tour of homes that takes place Sept. 13-15. The tour is the annual fundraiser for the Cannon Beach History Center and Museum.
Not many home tours take place with the Pacific Ocean in view. Cannon Beach has been a destination community since the late 1800s. The August 1891 issue of the The Daily Astorian declared the settlement a “sportsman’s paradise.”
The weekend will kick off on Friday, Sept. 13 with a jazz concert featuring Dmitri Matheny. Tickets are $20.
On Saturday, Sept. 14, the day begins with a luncheon and lecture at Tolovana Hall. tickets are $30.
A conversation about the evolution of cottages in Cannon Beach will begin at noon with doors opening at 11:30 a.m. Janet Eastman of The Oregonian will guide a conversation on how homes and cottages at the coast have changed over the years. Dough Dough Bakery, will prepare the luncheon.
The tour of homes will take place in the presidential streets of Cannon Beach and go from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. Enjoy wine tasting with Cannon Beach Wine Shack at one of the locations on the tour, live music, and tea from Beach House Teas at another featured home.
Take off those walking shoes and put on some dancing shoes for the Julie Amici concert at the museum at 6 p.m. Saturday. Tickets to the tour and concert are $40.
The final event of the weekend is an English-style garden tea at Tolovana Hall on Sunday, Sept. 15. Attendees will enjoy real teacups and saucers and tea from Beach House Teas. Master Gardener Jennifer Bell will speak about planting with indigenous plants. Scones, cucumber sandwiches and other delectable treats prepared by Dough Dough Bakery will be sitting on china displays at each table. Tickets are $25.
