A former furniture store will find new uses as a catering and food storage space.
David Koller, the owner of the building at 719 First Ave., went before the Seaside Planning Commission to request a conditional use permit for a portion of the space for commercial storage. The property is in a general commercial zone.
Koller intends to install 29 small storage units ranging in size from 9 square feet to 75 square feet. The units are intended for climate-controlled wine storage and small retail storage.
Destiny Dudley will operate a catering business with a small storefront on the east side of the building, Koller said. He plans to convert the remaining space to storage for local businesses.
“Within the mini storage area, I plan on having a climate-controlled ‘wine cellar’ area for wine distributors, restaurants or wine enthusiasts to store wine in a safe and secure area,” Koller said.
There will be no wine service or purchasing, he said.
Commissioners unanimously approved the application, with conditions of a detailed lighting plan, on-site trash facilities and parking space setbacks. The owner is asked to target business and commercial storage clientele and prohibit residential storage.

This sounds like it could be a great addition to Seaside and our Holladay Drive community!
