New toys are being collected for children in Clatsop County who might otherwise not have gifts to unwrap on Christmas.

The Toys for Tots program, sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, is being coordinated by Lou Neubecker, a retired Marine from Seaside.

Residents can donate a new, unwrapped toy to a supporting local business or make a monetary donation via the Toys for Tots website, www.toysfortots.org. A list of participating businesses is on the website.

Neubecker can be contacted at 503-717-0153; his email also is on the website.

Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a nonprofit organization representing the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The foundation was created on 1991 at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps.

Toys are collected every November and December and distributed to needy children in the community where the campaign is conducted. All toys collected in Clatsop County stay within the county.
