11:49 a.m., Cove: A concerned citizen advised police of a family with small children playing near the ocean. With King Tides coming in, they said they were concerned for their safety. The family was unable to be located at this time.

10:11 p.m., Turnaround: A disturbance is reported.

8:37 a.m., 1300 block S. Downing: A transient is reported sleeping in the community laundry room.

2:32 p.m., Avenue A: A firearm left behind in a hotel room is turned into police for safekeeping.

3:13 p.m., 2200 block S. Edgewood: Caller reports a tree on a roof. The homeowner says the home wasn’t damaged.

5:33 p.m., Police headquarters: Money is located outside the police department. Police think it might have blown in on the wind.

10:36 a.m., 2300 block Beach Drive: Property crimes are reported.

10:52 a.m., Broadway: Caller reports a possible drug transaction they believe just took place; officers contact a subject who says he just gave the other person a cookie.

1:24 p.m., 1000 block S. Holladay Drive: Police are requested to do a walk through of a building before it is demolished to make sure no transients have been living inside.

9:35 p.m. Ocean Way restroom: Officer warns a transient about blocking entrance to the building.

2:46 a.m., 400 block N. Prom: An assault is reported.

9:29 a.m., Sixth and Holladay: Offensive littering is reported.

12:07 p.m., OceanWay restrooms: Transients are reported blocking entrance to the facilities.

2:39 p.m., 12th and Roosevelt: Caller reports someone waving a firearm near a local coffee shop. Caller is contacted and the call is determined to be unfounded.

Cow on the loose

Troopers responded Oct. 27 at 6:56 p.m. to a reported one-car crash on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 11. On arrival they saw a white Mazda SUV that struck a black cow that was standing in the highway. The car sustained damage but was drivable. The cow was located in the vicinity of Glenwood Village but appeared uninjured and ran away. Troopers were not able to locate or contain the cow. Information was given to a nearby resident about a cow on the loose.

Rear-ended

An 81-year-old woman was rear-ended in her Subaru Oct. 29 at 3:31 p.m. on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 16 as she was making a left-hand turn on to her own property. She was hit by a Ford truck traveling south. The force of the impact caused the truck to veer into the northbound lane where it struck a Volkswagen Jetta traveling north. The Gearhart fire department, ODOT Incident Response, and state troopers responded to the scene. The driver of the Subaru was taken to Columbia Hospital for treatment and the driver of the Ford truck, a 67-year-old Gearhart man, was given a citation for following too closely.

Single-car crash

A single-car crash happened Oct. 30 at 1:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 26 at milepost 6. Police say a black sedan spun around several cars, drove in and out of the eastbound ditch, sustaining heavy front-end damage. It continued traveling eastbound has not been seen since.

Distraction

A 35-year-old Seaside man crashed his car Oct. 30 at 7:22 p.m. on U.S. Highway 101 near milepost 17. He said he was heading south when he was distracted by his phone. When he looked up, he saw he was heading off the road. He drove up on to the shoulder and crashed into an embankment. He said he didn’t need or want a crash report and his car was towed from the area.
