2:29 a.m., Avenue A: Responding to a report of a vehicle being used as unlawful lodging, officers checking the vehicle found it inhabited by two dogs, no humans. No further action taken.

Jan. 11

4:55 a.m., 900 block Beach Drive: Police respond to a report of a tree falling on a house.

9:13 a.m., Eleventh Avenue and Ocean Shore: Police responding to a report of a dead eagle on the beach determine it’s not an eagle.

11:00 a.m., Highway 101 and Avenue N: Police respond to a report of a female with a bloody face.

Jan. 12

12:58 a.m., N. Prom: Police arrive on scene at a hotel after caller reports an escalating argument between two individuals. Parties agree to separate for the night.

6:43 p.m., Dooley Lane, Gearhart: Police assist Gearhart police on a medical call.

Jan. 13

8:32 a.m., S. Roosevelt: A person fled a store after attempting to pass off a fake credit card after being told by the person at the register the card was fake. The fake card was turned over to police.

11:16 a.m., 600 block Duan Street: A person is arrested in violation of a restraining order.

Jan. 14

11:32 a.m., 800 block S. Holladay: Following up on a requested welfare check for a guest who hadn’t been seen in a week but whose room was paid up, it was determined the subject is in jail in another county.

Jan. 15

8:25 a.m., 200 block 18th Avenue: Caller reports two neighborhood dogs running at large every morning. Dogs’ owner is contacted and advised of the complaint.

10:22 a.m., 300 block S. Roosevelt: A missing person is reported.

11:01 p.m., 1700 block 12th Avenue: A disturbance is reported.

Jan. 16

12:49 p.m., S. Holladay Drive: Transients are given bus vouchers to Portland.

4:34 p.m., 200 block Avenue N: Caller requests welfare check on mother who she has not heard from in a month. Police check on woman who says she is fine and doesn’t have a phone. Caller is advised.

11:00 p..m., N. Holladay: A person is arrested and charged with DUII.

2:33 pm., 1900 block Spruce Drive: Emergency medical response.

6:18 p.m., 1900 block Spruce Drive: Emergency medical response.

12:30 p.m., Falcon Cove: Water rescue.

7:18 p.m., Avenue F: Fire investigation.

7:54 p.m., 400 block 12th Avenue: Fire investigation.

12:18 p.m., 1800 block Spruce Street: Structure fire.

1:42 p.m., 86000 block S. Wahanna: Emergency medical response.

Jan. 14

1:42 p.m., 1900 block S. Roosevelt: Emergency medical response.

9:02 p.m., 1600 block S. Columbia: A call for emergency medical response was changed to deceased person reported.

Jan. 15

3:01 p.m., 1400 block S. Columbia: Emergency medical response.

Jan. 16

5:18 p.m., 700 block Third Avenue: Emergency medical response.

9:28 p.m., S. Prom: Emergency medical response.

Oregon State Police

On Jan. 14 at 11:56 p.m. on Beerman Creek Lane and Avenue U, police stopped a male pedestrian for improper proceeding and possible theft. A check of the man’s status returned there was a municipal warrant for Theft in the second degree on him; a criminal citation was issued to Lonny Alan Baker, 30; he was released on scene. Items in question regarding the possible theft were returned to their place of origin.

Gearhart couple involved in highway crash

On Jan. 15 at 1:55 p.m. on Highway 26 near MP 26, a 68-year-old man from Gearhart lost control of his vehicle on a snowy road, resulting in a crash. The vehicle was totaled; minor injuries were reported, not involving hospital transport. In addition to the driver, his wife, 65, was a passenger. Classic Towing towed the vehicle from the scene.

Two car accident blocks traffic 

On Jan. 16 on Highway 26 near MP 28, a vehicle traveling east was coming off a hill when it began picking up speed; the driver applied the brakes but lost control; the vehicle spun out into the west lane. The driver of a second vehicle saw the first vehicle coming into its lane but was unable to get out of the way and was struck on the driver’s side door. Both vehicles came to a stop in the middle of the highway, blocking traffic. ODOT was on scene to assist with traffic control. Classic Towing removed both vehicles. The operator of Vehicle 2 was cited for driving with a suspended license and failure to install the IID device. No injuries were reported.
