Car vs. deer accident on Highway 101

On June 14 at 7:23 a.m., on Highway 101 and Cullaby Lake Lane, police responded to a report of a non-injury crash that occurred when a 65 year old woman driving a Honda traveling southbound on Highway 101 around Milepost 14 struck a deer that ran out into the road. The driver sustained no injuries. There was significant vehicle damage.

Motorcycle accident on Highway 101

On June 14 at 2:02 p.m., police responded to an injury crash involving multiple motorcycles on Highway 101 near Milepost 35. Police say the operator of Motorcycle 2 was leading a group of four riders when he misread his navigation device and attempted a last minute turn on to the “ramp” leading to Highway 26. As Unit 2 moved towards the exit ramp, the rear of his motorcycle clipped the front of Unit 1, which was slightly behind him. Both riders were on Harley Davidson bikes and are from Washington. No further information was available regarding injuries.

Woman charged with reckless driving

On June 15 at 12:20 p.m., on Highway 26 at Milepost 10, Marie Elena Thus, 51, driving a silver Subaru, was charged with reckless driving and having an open container of alcohol during a traffic stop. Police observed an open container of beer inside the vehicle. A field sobriety test was performed. Ms. Thus was cleared by citation and returns to court July 30.

Seaside woman charged with DUII

On June 16 at 8:06 p.m., on Highway 101 and Rippet Lane, Jeana F. Okeson, 51 of Seaside, was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment of a Person. Police say while working in the construction zone of U.S. Highway 101 at Milepost 24, they observed a Honda Accord traveling southbound nose into southbound traffic while partially in the northbound lane. Another motorist flagged police down to report this same vehicle passing motorists in a no passing area. Initiating a traffic stop, it was observed the driver showed signs of impairment. She consented to the field sobriety test and was found to be noticeably impaired. Okeson was arrested and charged with DUII and her vehicle was towed from the scene. At the Clatsop County jail she submitted to the chemical test and provided a breath sample of .09 blood alcohol content one hour after arrest. She was released to jail staff and was issued violation citations for no operators license and passing in a no passing zone with construction zone enhancements.
