Downtown Gearhart

Gearhart City Council tabled consideration of amendments to downtown business zoning code until the new year.

Gearhart businesses face a tight time window to apply for an additional $40,000 of COVID-19 grant funds.

In a special meeting Wednesday, Gearhart City Council approved the distribution of emergency relief grant funds for up to 20 businesses, which could receive $2,000 each. Applications are due Monday at 5 p.m. and available at the city website.

The CARES Act requires that the payments only be used to cover expenses incurred as a result of the pandemic.

Funds must be spent by Dec. 30 in order to meet the reimbursement reporting window.

A special City Council meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. will determine final distribution and checks will be delivered Wednesday.
