A man died after a drowning accident Wednesday morning in Seaside.

At about 3:15 a.m., Seaside Fire & Rescue was called to an incident near the Avenue A approach at the beach.

The Seaside Police Department had reported someone missing around 26 Avenue A at about 2:59 a.m. Shortly after, a police officer found the victim in the water. The officer removed the victim and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The man was suffering cardiac arrest, according to Capt. Dave Rankin, of Seaside Fire & Rescue.

Medix, along with Seaside Fire & Rescue, transported the man to Providence Seaside Hospital. The victim died.

The agencies will not release the man’s age, name or other identifying information at this time because the incident is under investigation, according to the police department.
