Applicants wishing to fill two vacant seats on the Clatsop Community College board must submit a letter and resume by 5 p.m. Dec. 4.

The applications should be submitted to: Office of the President, Clatsop Community College, 1651 Lexington Ave., Astoria, OR 97103 or pschulte@clatsopcc.edu.

Board members Frank Satterwhite, elected from Zone 2, Larry McKinley, recently appointed to represent Zone 3, submitted their resignations Nov. 12.

Satterwhite is withdrawing from the board after 16 years of service, and McKinley has moved to take up a new position outside of the colege district.

Board members represent geographic zones, although each is elected at large. Zone 2 includes Precincts 1 through 8, 29, 31, and 46; and is generally described as the city of Astoria, Lewis & Clark area and Olney-Walluski areas.

Zone 3 includes Precincts 20 through 26, 35, 37 through 40, 43, 45, 47 and 48 and is generally described as the cities of Cannon Beach, Seaside, Gearhart and Warrenton, the areas of Arch Cape, Clatsop Plains Necanicum south of Seaside and Stanley Acres north of Seaside.

Appointees will serve until the next scheduled election and then must run for office.

Those interested in serving on the college board to represent Zone 2 or Zone 3 should submit an introductory letter outlining reasons for their interest in board service and a brief resume of relevant experience. To qualify, the applicant must be a registered voter within the zone for which they apply and must have been a resident of the Clatsop Community College District for at least one year preceding appointment.

Contact the president’s office, 503-338-2425 for more information.
