A staff member working in the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District Youth Program Department tested positive for the coronavirus, the park district reported Sunday.

Following guidance from the Oregon Health Authority, the park district will temporarily close youth programs for two weeks to allow the district to deep clean affected areas.

The pause in programming will remain in effect until July 20, Skyler Archibald, the executive director of the park district, said. Staff will continue to be evaluated at the beginning of each shift with temperature and symptom checks.

The park district is assisting the Clatsop County Public Health Department with contact tracing and other aspects of an appropriate response, Archibald said. “Our priority is keeping our patrons and staff safe,” he said.

The Sunset Pool and other district programming will remain operational, he added.
